BEST:
- uBlock origin
- Firefox (Firefox Focus for mobile)
- firefox focus automatically blocks ads!!
- Opting out of personalized ads/tracking on all devices. link here
General privacy:
- Ghostery - easy to use, nice interface. Shows statistics on who's tracking you. They also have their own private browser.
- Privacybadger - small and simple, also for blocking trackers
- DuckDuckGo - search engine and privacy essentials extension. Also has its own browser.
- DecentralEyes - Great, works with other ad/tracker blockers and helps sites not break with content blocking.
- Proton anything, but I'm super biased towards their VPN. They also have calendar, mail, drive, etc. I think eventually they're getting their own notes app too. Great for casual use but as always be wary if you're sending Sensitive Content.
- Brave - Browser based on privacy. Not bad but not my personal favorite. Lets you earn crypto rewards.
- AdGuard
Paywalls:
- 12ft.io - Disables javascript on sites and has an iOS shortcut to (maybe) let you get over paywalls. Great idea but doesn't always work.
- paywallreader.com
Just for Fun:
- This specific YTMP3 site
- Dislikes in YouTube - edge extension
- Enhancer for Youtube
- Youtube No Context - gets rid of the youtube context box. Works on edge and chrome. Two comments on this r/uBlockOrigin post have ways to block it using only uBlock.
FUCK spotify stop using it
"You'll own nothing and you'll be happy"
Genuinely might write a long blog/rant about how ridiculous it is to pay for something you'll never own. None of it is yours. Internet goes down or you can't pay? Womp womp, you have nothing. Current spotify premium price: 11.99$ mo
- Article and info about NewPipe (mobile app) from BadGraph1csGhost
- Just block ads on youtube and use that for listening on your computer. UBlock origin works best.
- dvd/cd readers that you can use to rip cds are usually not more than 25$. On ebay most are less than 20 and the amount of use and music you get out of one makes it worth it imo
- mp3 players - lots of customizability and storage options, can get great ones for under 40$. This is my go-to personally- ytmp3, organizing albums on my computer, then saved to my player's microsd card. I use the Yottix 64GB one with a 128GB microsd card installed and organize/sort with itunes.
- RadioSure - another option for listening on your computer. Skin customizability!!
- Lucida - download music from popular streaming sites
- Possible useful took: clemtine music player
- As usual, check internet archive
- Stacher.io. Download videos and music from YT. May also let you download from spotify?
